How It Works
Fleet and vehicles
Avis maintains a diverse fleet tailored to different trip types: economy and compact cars for city use, roomy SUVs and minivans for family travel, and premium or hybrid models where available. Vehicle availability varies by location and season — reservations at avis.com or via the app are recommended to secure specific classes and extras like GPS or child seats.
Booking and pickup
Reservations can be made online, in the Avis app or by phone. Most airport locations have dedicated counters and kiosks; many city locations offer neighborhood pickup. Avis Preferred speeds the process with digital check-in and express lanes. Expect a standard ID, driver’s license and payment method on arrival; requirements vary by country and age of driver.
Business & extras
Avis supports corporate accounts, long-term monthly rentals and one-way hires across many routes. Add-ons such as insurance coverage, additional drivers, child seats and toll packages are available for a fee. Corporate contracts and corporate promo codes often include negotiated rates, billing options and priority service for business travelers.

What are the rules for returning the car?
Return to the agreed location by the scheduled time to avoid additional charges. One-way returns between different locations are possible but may incur a drop-off fee. Follow local office instructions for after-hours returns.
