Our Mission
For over 25 years, HALO®’s mission has been to create simple, innovative products that make safe sleep easier for you—and more comfortable for your baby.
When our founder Bill Schmid lost his firstborn to SIDS in 1991, he made it his life’s mission to ensure another family wouldn’t have to experience the same tragedy. Using his expertise as a professional engineer, he designed the very first wearable blanket—also known as the SleepSack®.
Since then, the HALO® SleepSack® has continued to be a category leader and the #1 choice of hospitals, available in over 1,700 nationwide.
Today, our responsibility and dedication to safe sleep continue as a trusted resource for the modern parent. Our growing line of products are thoughtfully developed and diligently tested to help babies sleep safely from birth through toddlerhood.

Our Products
The HALO® SleepSack® is designed to eliminate the need for loose blankets and ensure safe sleep, spanning from birth to 5 years old. Our collection features five different styles, including the best-selling SleepSack® 3-way Adjustable Swaddle.
The HALO® BassiNest® is designed with a 360° swivel and patented lowering bedside wall, offering accessible close sleep without the risk of bedsharing. Our signature sleeper is available in six different models, including one for twins.
Our Collaboration with Hospitals
HALO® offers a dedicated professional line of products, with SleepSacks® and Swaddles currently being used in over 1,700 hospitals nationwide. Our BassiNest® hospital series was developed specifically to allow mothers and babies to sleep closely after childbirth. We most recently collaborated with NICU nurses to create the TrulyPreemie SleepSack® Swaddle – engineered to better fit the smaller size and unique needs of prematurely born babies – for exclusive use in the NICU.
Our educational safe sleep materials are distributed at hospitals to over 100,000 new parents annually.
We also believe in giving back to hospitals with donations of over $9M in safe sleep essentials since 2010.

HALO® is a proud partner of the following leaders in infant health and safety.First Candle: HALO products are recognized as part of a safe sleep routine by First Candle, and our collaborative partnership promotes SIDS prevention education and provides safe sleep essentials to parents in need.
International Hip Dysplasia Institute: HALO® SleepSack® and Swaddle allow for babies to have free movement of their legs and hips and to lay in their natural “froggy” position, allowing for healthy hip development.
JPMA: Our BassiNests® are all JPMA certified—which means that they have met even more stringent guidelines for safety, performance and functionality than the government standard.
